Pop-Up Country Kingston is a new event hosted by the Downtown Kingston Business Improvement Area (DBIA) with the purpose of bringing foot traffic to the area, while providing an opportunity for businesses to engage with the public. Although there are many businesses within the DBIA that participate in events, there are often businesses whose participation would greatly add to overall involvement and community feel. Although Kingston is becoming much more savvy with digital media, there is a lot more opportunity for social media interaction during events. Pop-Up Country Kingston is the not to be missed, urban country event in the heart of downtown Kingston, providing good old country fun in a unique and vibrant city centre. Pop-Up Country Kingston is the most unique event the DBIA has ever created. This event has high hopes of becoming a yearly tradition that will never run on the same day every year. The overall visuals for this event need to be seen and heard quickly like a pop event. It is because of this nature that the logo must be easily recognizable and distinctive. The logo was inspired by combining two pieces popular of country imagery, paisley patterning from cowboy bandanas and a cow skull. The cow skull represents the powerful effect country music has on us, while the paisley represents the history of the genre and the rich life it brings. The colour choices reminds us of the warm, fuzzy and heart breaking feeling country music is so often known for, while the typeface adds a touch of heritage that embodies Downtown Kingston everyday.
